'Wilberforce 200 (A Change Is Gonna Come)' is a compilation album
commemorating the bi-centenary of the abolition of the slave trade.
Featuring a few big names and some not so well known, 'Wilberforce 200
....' is a soulful groove-out of established 'standards' to relax to
and enjoy at those quite times when stimulation is required. But, as a
statement of recognition it's much more than that!!

Billy Ocean, Roachford, Ruby Turner and Roland Gift join up with ten
other artists to bring new life to some all-time classics such as 'A
Change Is Gonna Come', Respect' 'Family Affair' and 'You've Got A
Friend' - there's something here for most tastes and definitely loads
to chill to. Easy on the ear and a great sing-along work, 'Wilberforce
200...' doesn't actually cross into uncharted territory but it does
re-visit some well trodden areas is its attempt to bring awareness of
the importance of what William Wilberforce instigated and went on to
achieve. Some thought has been given to the song selection here; most
relate in some way directly to the 'cause', others, although less
obviously, hang along in there too.
If you like a bit of polished soul music and feel you could make a
difference by getting involved but don't know how to, then look out for
this tasty album, spend a few quid and help the world remember what
William Wilberforce spent a great part of his life trying to achieve.
This album is not just about history and William Wilberforce - slavery
and emancipation still exist, to an extent, in some countries and
anything we can do to help highlight these wrong-doings and help stamp
them out has gotta be a bonus.
'Wilberforce 200 (A Change Is Gonna Come)' is a cool, well crafted
album - the participants have given their time and energy to help
commemorate an important issue - the very least we can do is listen and
spread the word!!
